With numerous Art awards including the first to win the coveted international L. Ron Hubbard Gold Award Grand Prize, where artists from 45 different countries enter in hopes of winning, Derek Hegsted's exceptional art work is renowned and respected by both the his peers and the public.
From 1989 to1993 Derek worked as an Illustrator for Bantam Books of New York and Bridge Publications, Hollywood, California, creating illustrations for nebula award-winning writers Poul Anderson, Greg Bear, Gregory Benford, David Brin, Nancy Kress, Frederik Pohl, Dave Wolverton, and L. Ron Hubbard.
